In line with my observations and criticism of senior IAF structure and itx entrenched leadership.
IMVHO contributory cause of the reason VVIP flight crashed with CDS Gen Rawat on board.
I argue that the lack of strategic intellect is why IAF has no (zero) technology and future weapons development department, very unlike Navy. IAF always buying things that go obsolete quickly, consequence of being on the tail end of whip lash.

IAF was smugly sipping glory of imported BVR (first in neighborhood) while enemy has over reached it with few thousands of longer range AIM-120 AMRAAM. Resulting in SU30 going cold (to save its arse) and measerly Mig21 piloted by lion heart taking down F16, only to be later taken down by AIM120. Talk of IAF leadership sleeping on wheels waiting for fancy top of the line, gold plated imported MMRCA and its silver bullets.

Even after retirement, they rate a guy on how good a flyer he was. In civvie street, they show inability to change and forget their past. They behave superior to other services. Station Commanders want to behave like pilot officers and fly everyday. Couple of them have had fatal too.Really doubt if they can think outside the box and amalgamate with other services. Strategic thinking- a junior Naval Officer is way ahead of a Senior Air Marshal.
