Air Vice Marshal Prashant Mohan VM (Retd) is an alumni of 74th NDA course and was commissioned into fighter stream of Indian Air Force on 14 June 1989. The Air Officer superannuated on 31 Mar 2025 after putting in slightly over 36 years of Service in IAF. The Air Officer has 3800 hours of flying to his credit and is Fully Ops on the MiG-21 (T-77), MiG-21 (T-96) MiG-21 (T-75), and Kiran Mk I/IA/II aircraft.
The Air Officer is a Qualified Flying Instructor and graduate of 61st Air Staff Course. He has had instructional tenures at Air Force Stations Bidar and Hakimpet. He has commanded a MiG-21 Fighter Squadron as a Wing Commander. He operationalised a flying station in an operational area and commanded IAF’s Institute of Aerospace Safety, both as a Group Captain. He also commanded a frontline fighter base as an Air Commodore in an operational area. He has had staff appointments at Air HQ (VB) as Director Staff Duties. He has had a foreign tenure as the Defence and Air Attaché at the High Commission of India, London (UK). Prior to the last assignment as ACIDS Int-C (International Mil Co-op) in HQ IDS, he was Air Officer Commanding, Advance Headquarters South Western Command of Indian Army at Jaipur. The Air Officer has joined Centre for Aerospace Power and Strategic Studies (CAPSS) as Additional Director General on 01 July 2026.
The Air Officer was commended twice by the Chief of the Air Staff on 08 October 2003 and 08 October 2006 and was awarded the Vayu Sena Medal (VM) Gallantry from the President of India on 26 January 2009.
The Air Officer plays football, cricket and golf. His interests include reading history, non-fiction topics and writing.
The Air Officer is married to Mrs Anjali Mohan, who is a home maker. They are blessed with a daughter, who is Content Marketing, Creative Production and Brand Partnerships Lead, with MeMeraki, a Cultural Tech Start Up and a son who is a practising lawyer. Both are Delhi based.
