Structure of the Internship

The internship rests on four pillars- assisted learning through curated classes,
one-on-one mentoring, field visits and academic writing.

On arrival, each intern is assigned a mentor, a book to review and a topic to research. Since air power is a new subject for all interns, there is assisted learning through classroom discussions during the first four weeks of the CAPSS internship programme.  This will be conducted by CAPSS’s own Research Faculty and select Subject Matter Experts (SME) on invitation.  Each interactive session will last 90 min. All interns will be compulsorily required to attend the classes daily as per the schedule. Topics covered in the teaching capsule will include basics of strategy, warfare, air power, air power theories and their interaction with security. Apart from this, the interns would also be exposed to the topics on security dynamics in the neighbourhood and nuclear security.

Field visits are part of the internship, where interns would get to visit an operational IAF base to connect theory to practice. Furthermore, they would also have the opportunity to attend various seminars organised by CAPSS during the internship period and interact with senior hierarchy of IAF.

Desired Outcome

Interns are required to write one book review and one independent/ co-authored (with the mentor) original research article in 2,500–3,500 words, approximately. Writings that meet the CAPSS publishing requirements will be published. Appropriate remuneration would be paid.

Charges:       CAPSS does not charge a fee for the internship. No stipend is admissible during the internship. The interns are allowed access to all resources of CAPSS, like the library, Wi-Fi, Tea/ Refreshments etc free of charge. Individuals need to make their own arrangements for stay, commute and meals.

Leave

A maximum of four working days is permitted during the eight weeks of internship. However, not more than two consecutive days of leave can be taken during the internship. Absence beyond four days would lead to the termination of the internship.
