Dr Javed Alam
Associate Fellow
Dr Javed Alam is an Associate Fellow (Nuclear Vertical) at the Centre for Aerospace Power and Strategic Studies (CAPSS). He holds a PhD and M. Phil. in International Studies from the MMAJ Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, India. He has done his Masters and Bachelors in Political Science from the University of Delhi, New Delhi, India. At CAPSS, his research focuses on the strategic implications of emerging technologies and their impact on nuclear strategies in Southern Asia. He has cleared the UGC-NET and has been awarded a JRF/SRF in International Studies. He is also a Certified Nuclear Security fundamentals Professional (CNSfP) specialising in Nuclear Security Fundamentals from The World Institute for Nuclear Security Academy (WINS). He is a Fellow of the IISS Missile Dialogue Initiative’s Young Leaders Programme (2026–2028) and has previously held fellowships with the Hague Code of Conduct (HCoC) initiative and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO). His broader intellectual interests lie at the intersection of technology, strategy, and international security, particularly how emerging technologies are reshaping deterrence, escalation, and the global nuclear order. Through his work, Dr Alam seeks to bridge the gap between technical analysis and strategic thought, contributing to more informed and responsible policy debates.
