Ms Anuttama Banerji

Associate Fellow

Anuttama Banerji is an Associate Fellow at Centre for Aerospace Power and Strategic Studies (CAPSS). Her research areas of interest include water and maritime security, as well as South Asian geopolitics. Her work has been widely published across different international and national platforms including The Diplomat, Lowy Interpreter, Institute Montaigne, South China Morning Post, South Asian Voices, The Print, Deccan Herald, Hindustan Times among others. She has held international fellowships with the Stimson Center, USA (2023) and the NIICE, Nepal (2024), where she primarily focused on assessing the growing convergences between India and the United States in the realm of defence and security. Prior to joining CAPSS, she was working at the National Maritime Foundation (NMF) where she worked extensively on different facets of India’s defence and maritime cooperation with the United States.

On the academic front, she has graduated with a Master’s degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2018. She also holds another Masters’ in Politics and International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University. True to her diverse multidimensional interests, she has also completed a Certification in Global Public Health from the University of London in 2025. She is a polyglot and is fluent in English, French and Urdu in addition to her native Bengali and Hindi. She is also an avid reader and traveller.
